I just love this combination of colours, it makes me think of that 
perfect little Tiffany gift box and with the Holidays just around the corner 
what better way to get inspired than by creating all things sparkly.

 November will be celebrated with many shades of TURQUOISE and GOLD.

What a wonderful year so far with lots of vibrant colors.
Just take a look at all the beautiful Purples from July HERE.
 
AUGUST IN SHADES OF GREY or should I say 50 SHADES OF GREY ;)

There is a whole varied palette of greys, from cool greys to warm greys,
greys with a tint of red and greys with a tint of blue.

This month's challenge can be either straight B/W photography or
shades of greys shot in color mode.

What I love best about this challenge is that it will allow us to view
our images for TONE, CONTRAST and SHAPE.

Here is one that I tried this morning.
I decided to shoot in color mode but still get as much grey tones as possible.

Colors of 2013 - May in Blue

Colors of 2013 - May in BLUE

We are back with May in Blue after a wonderful March in Green and April in White. I wanted to thank Karrie Brewer Drake for helping out during the last two months with the group while my life finds a new normal after losing my mother in law a few weeks ago and becoming caregiver to my father in law all in a heartbeat. I have had so much support both through family and friends and from my online community. Thank you all for being so kind.

 Now lets get back to creating beautiful art for the soul and best of all create new work our portfolios and shops.

Blues have always been a soothing color to me, from oceans to clear blue skies. Shades of Turquoise, Baby Blues and Aquamarine. How about my favorite Tiffany Blue. You can enhance your color using Photoshop if you want to unify all your blues to create a gorgeous serie. The possibilities are endless even with one simple word "BLUE"

Have you seen the January in RED collection over at COLORS OF 2013 Flickr group. 
I'm so thrilled to share this new group with such talented ladies (men are welcome at any time ;)
Not only are their photographs beautiful and creative but so are they.

Here are some random selections of the JANUARY RED color theme that the group members had to follow. Red is not always an easy color to shoot but as you can tell there is a lot of talent here.

Dancing in the light with my tulips


The light just caught my eye today and I needed to do a little dance with it.

As you may have noticed from my work, I have a weakness for florals. Their petals and colors create an abstract canvas for me. But this is only when I am able to capture them UP CLOSE.

Since I got my new 5D mkII this past summer, my passion to follow the light in my photography slowly took the back seat. You see, I could only attach the 50mm to the 5D which is an amazing lens for portraits, but as you can see from my work, I LOVE detail, close up shots, macro.
I know... I know... I need the 100mm, but unfortunately that too is on the back burner... hopefully not for long.

For me getting up close allows me to create art, abstract forms, catch the light with splashes of colors and shapes. So today I went back to my little Rebel and attached the 55-250 zoom lens that I hate with a passion and began to study the light.

Ooohh! How much fun it is to see the light dancing like this. Cannot wait to get my hands on the macro lens.

All this said, here are a few SOOC except for some minor brightening tweaks in my raw files.





If you are wondering what light I used. It's simple... the sun. Back light does wonders for tulips.


Doing the happy dance.. I'm in love with these.

Did you ever want to group 3 or 4 photographs on your wall or better yet showcase in your shop but find it hard to find images that look good grouped together.
 
Well, why not work on creating collections in 2013.

Each month will have it's own color. The style, theme and subject will be all up to you. Weather you are a portrait photographer or a fine art photographer like myself this project is sure to add some fun to your portfolio. The creativity is endless and best of all you could customize your photos to suit your own style.

So here we go!
JANUARY will be RED... as we get ready for next month's Valentines. ♥

So lets start creating... if you are a portraits photographer, than dress up your client in red or do a close up of red lips, maybe make a little girl hold a red apple just for the fun of it.
If you are a fine art photographer, there are endless fruits that are red, or flowers (my favorite) or even a red door or a red book. Maybe it's that special romantic sunset ;)

You get the idea. CREATE in COLOR

How to participate:

1- Add your color theme images to this Flickr group. You should aim to post one image per week. Post as many as you wish but be sure to choose your top 4 amazing shots. This will allow you to select a quality portfolio. Remember quality over quantity.

2- Join the Facebook Group where I will be posting the color theme at the beginning of every month.
Since Flickr is not very easy to communicate in groups as they do not have notifications, this private closed FB group will allow us to share ideas and get news on the project and maybe make some new connections.
Also if you do not have a Flickr account please use the group to showcase your weekly post.

3- Once a month I will showcase 4 to 8 pieces from the previous month on my blog. Be sure to sign up to my newsletter.

Lets start the fun and remember no stress, no obligations. We all know life can get busy so don't worry if you cannot post once a week, just keep the creative flow throughout the year.
